According to the most recently available cost report data provided to the State of Texas for public ambulance agencies submitted by the Public Consulting Group, MedStar’s expense per transport is the lowest in the state at $496 compared to the average fire-based ambulance cost per transport of $2,364.
Also note that MedStar has the highest reimbursement rate of all public ambulance agencies, a testament to how our team works together to maximize fee for service reimbursement to minimize the need for public subsidy to fund desired community service levels.
